Dysport is an acetylcholine release inhibitor that, like Botox, is derived from botulinum toxin. When injected into glabellar lines—those on the forehead and between the eyebrows—it acts as a neuromuscular blocking agent that softens wrinkles by relaxing muscle contractions.

Dysport treatment is simple, safe and essentially painless. It is injected with micro-needles into the facial muscles that are causing the overlying skin to wrinkle, preceded by the application of local anesthesia cream. The treatment only takes a few minutes.

In clinical trials, the effects of Dysport lasted up to 4 months. After this period, the treatment wears off and will need to be repeated. Therefore, for optimal results, about three treatments a year are recommended.
