GracefulLift™ is a specially developed “mini facelift” that avoids the longer recovery period and need for anesthesia associated with a full facelift. It is performed under local anesthesia with some oral sedation.

Men and women with loose skin of the neck, jawline and cheeks are ideal candidates for the GracefulLift™. Most patients for this procedure are in their 40s, 50s, and early 60s. People with a great deal of “hanging skin” usually require a full facelift for acceptable improvement.

The goal of the GracefulLift™ is to rejuvenate and refresh the face while keeping its natural appearance. The results are significant but not drastic. Most patients see a lifted and smoother neck, a decrease (or elimination) of the jowls, and a lighter look to the cheeks. When the lift is performed with other surgery, such as an eyelid lift, the results are even more impressive.

The lift is done through an incision that extends from just above the ear down to the earlobe area. In some cases the incision extends behind the ear, but only rarely. When healed, the scars are almost imperceptible. During the procedure the facial muscles and skin are tightened, and the excess skin removed.

The patient goes home the day of the procedure, with a dressing in place. At the follow-up appointment the next day, the dressing is removed. Patients may wash their hair the day after surgery. Activity is restricted for the first day or two, with resting and head elevation encouraged as much as possible. After that, GracefulLift™ patients can be up and around for normal activities.

Bruising and swelling tends to be minimal with this procedure. Most patients can be out two or three days after surgery, looking better than they did before. As the healing process progresses and swelling resolves, the results continue to improve. Typically, patients return to work within 2-5 days following the procedure.
