SmartTuck Plus™ Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is surgery designed to re-contour and smooth the abdomen. Patients with loose muscles, poor muscle tone or large amounts of excess skin are particularly well served by a tummy tuck. This surgery can often be combined with other procedures, such as breast implantation or liposuction. It's the most extensive abdominal reshaping procedure we offer at rejuvenate! and gives the most dramatic results. We call it the SmartTuck Plus™.

SmartTuck Plus™ Surgery is performed in a fully staffed operating room. Anesthesia is provided by an anesthesiologist and is usually a "twilight" deep sedation. The anesthesiologist meets with every patient to best determine the safest and most appropriate anesthetic to use. The surgery includes Smart Lipo™ and skin removal, as well as muscle tightening. We use a suturing technique that we refer to as an Internal Corset. This tightening brings in the muscles in the front of the abdomen, where muscle tone is frequently lost due to pregnancy or weight fluctuations, as well as the muscles toward the sides of the abdominal wall. This helps bring out a more tapered waistline and results in a slightly more "hourglass" silhouette. The type of shape each patient has is, of course, determined by many factors (including the rib and hip bone structures), but this extra support and shaping of the muscles helps give every patient the maximum improvement possible.

Smart Lipo™ is a standard part of the surgery as well. It helps to shape and smooth the transition from the tighter abdomen to the rest of the flanks. The maximum possible amount of skin is removed. For most women, the skin from just above the belly button to near pubic hairline—with the underlying fat—is removed.

Although many patients do well with the less invasive SmartTuck™, some patients are better-suited for a full tummy tuck. Patients who typically would benefit from a full tummy tuck are patients with:

• Abdominal wall muscle weakness
• Extra skin following massive weight loss
• Hernias and/or extensive stretch marks
• Abdominal scars
